Autism Spectrum Disorders and other Special Needs

Demands placed on parents of a child with special needs contribute to a higher overall incidence of parental stress, depression and anxiety, and adversely affect family functioning and marital relationships.

The League of Therapists understands the unique challenges of parenting a child with special needs. We are able to offer highly skilled and creative teams to work with children with special needs and their families in outpatient and in-home settings. Our therapeutic services and consultation are uniquely tailored to each child and family's needs. Clinicians consult with other specialists as needed.

Our Clinicians are skilled in:

  • Educating parents to understand their child's needs
  • Identifying strategies to reduce family stress
  • Linking families to educational and community services, medical care, and funding sources
  • Creating routines and structure to improve family life
  • Teaching parents the skills, cues, and helpful interventions to manage their child's behaviors
  • Collaborating with school personnel and service providers
  • Involving parents in support groups to reduce isolation

Outpatient (individual, family, and group counselings) or in-home interventions are provided according to the child and family's needs.
