Training, Supervision, and Workshops


The League of Therapists is devoted to the highest level of training and supervision for all clinicians.

Staff Training

  • Participate in bi-weekly or monthly, 2-hour group supervision using videotaped client sessions, live supervision, and team coordination with a primary trainer.
  • Participate in regular, 1-hour individual supervision using videotaped client sessions, live supervision, and team coordination with an experienced, licensed supervisor.
  • Attend an in-depth, 12-hour, 3-part series, See It, Name It, Change It: The Power of Family Therapy, taught by Dr. David B. Waters.
  • For supervisors, attend 10-month, in-depth 30-hour training program, Supervision of the Supervision of Family Therapy, led by Dr. Greenstein.

New Therapists

Any League of Therapists location can serve as an internship site for students completing advanced degrees in the mental health field.

Primary Trainers

Stephen Greenstein

Stephen Greenstein, PhD, the League of Therapist's Owner/Founder/Executive Director, Clinical Director, is the primary trainer/supervisor for the League's clinicians. Dr. Greenstein holds monthly group supervision at all 11 League offices. He also conducts an in-depth training program for the League's supervisors.


David B. Waters

David B. Waters, PhD, LCP, also leads the League's training/supervision. He holds group supervision at three League offices, and presents a required 3-part, 12-hour series of workshops in Structural Family Therapy for staff. In 2010, Dr. Waters began to offer his expertise to larger community of therapists in the Commonwealth of Virginia with one and two day workshops.
